The Best Beach Wedding Locations in Manitoba
Whether or not your original plan was to have a beach wedding or you’re making a shift because of Covid and decided to bring your destination wedding back to Manitoba we have some great options here that we think you should consider.
It can be easy to overlook our beautiful beaches, thinking about other locations for your wedding, but we highly suggest you look at all your options.
If you’re looking for that beach-y ocean vibe we have some options that definitely are worth considering.
Here are our top picks the best beach wedding locations in Manitoba.
Grand Beach
It might seem a little overly obvious – Grand Beach is very popular after all – but it has so many cute little spots where you could have an intimate ceremony, or even just use the space for your couples photos. It’s just all-around a wonderful location. Although there are not many wedding venues surrounding it, maybe you have a friend that has a cottage or you could rent out an area to host a tent. There are a lot of opportunities to have a really unique wedding here. It might be best suited for a more intimate, smaller wedding, but why not?
Clear Lake
I’m not even sure where to start with Clear Lake. They are just so many great options here. There are many venues in the area, lots of cabins you can rent, and just even Google “Clear Lake” to look up all the different things you can do in the area, and the beauty of the lake itself. You can also rent out the dinner cruise for a fun rehearsal dinner option for all of your guests. And, it’s just a lovely drive heading up that way. We’re in Manitoba after all, so we don’t have a lot of hills (and no mountains) so the change in landscape is refreshing.
Steep Rock
You might not know about this hidden gem of a location, but with its cliff edges and lake views, it really is quite unique. There are a few community halls in areas you can use for a wedding. A few cabins for rent, but no main venue. Again, a really great option – if you can source some land or have someone that has a property – is tossing up a tent. Being unique location and tent experts we are always thrilled when someone wants to have a wedding up in Steep Rock. It’s just so stunning and getting to create a location all your own, with a tent and all the fixings, we just love it so much.
Gimli Beach
If you’re wanting a location that is a bit more heavily populated and has a few venues to pick from, Gimli Beach is a great option for you. It’s obviously very touristy at certain times of the year, so you will be competing a little bit for hotels and cabin bookings. But it’s just a stunning area. If you have a cabin there – facing the water – even better. Have your ceremony there, and host your reception in one of the many venues. Or, rent part of the Provincial Park to have a lake view for a ceremony. Camp Morton is also stunning and the walk along the water is wonderful for photos. It’s not wide sandy beaches but rather a little more cliff and pebbles but make for amazing couples photos.
Falcon Lake
If you want something a little more out in the woods Falcon Lake is your best option. There are a few options for tossing up a tent, obviously many cabins to rent out, and Falcon Trails Resort. Which happens to be one of our favourites. You can use their chalet for an intimate wedding, or work with them to set up a tent. We’ve done weddings out in the Lake Of The Woods and Falcon Trails area over the years and absolutely love it. It’s just such a wonderful option and just so charming to be out in the woods.
An added bonus – if you have your wedding there – is booked the cabins at Falcon Trails Resort for a winter getaway. Have a summer wedding there and then use the excuse to head out there as a mid-year six-month anniversary getaway in the winter. Why not? It’s a win-win to get to have a little walk down memory lane.
The last time we spoke with Falcon Trails Resort they were still working on winter wedding options, so consider asking them about chalet options if you want some with a bit more winter vintage charm.
Patricia Beach
A little closer to the city than some of the other options, Patricia Beach is lovely. It’s got a lot of charm, and there are a few cosy little areas where you could have an intimate wedding celebration. Again, no actual venues to close by, but many spots you could consider putting up a tent and working with locals to make a wedding happen.
Of course, we love building a venue from nothing, but you would need to bring in a handful of vendors to make it all happen. This is where we thrive – and love taking on a wedding with Full Planning – but if you’re not looking for a Planner consider the amount of work before taking it on yourself. At the very least we highly suggest hiring a Planner to take care of Wedding Management for you (you might hear it called Wedding Coordination most often).
Hecla Island
We can’t say more than enough wonderful things about Hecla Island. We love the location. We also love Hecla Island Resort. We love everything about it. Although the resort could use a few updates, it’s just all-around a wonderful location.
They have two smaller banquet rooms that could make a really great location for a 50-100 person wedding. And having a location that has a hotel, restaurant, bar, spa, golf course, and beach at your disposal for you and your guests. There are also eco-cabins, and camp-site rentals really close by so if your guests want to be a little more rustic for the week or weekend of your wedding it would be a fun extended holiday for them with the wedding tossed in the mix.
We love it up there. Here’s a link to Sam and Nicky’s Hecla Island Resort Wedding. If you weren’t already convinced about Manitoba beach weddings take a look at some of the sunset photos; they’re a dream.
