How To Pick Your First Dance Song
Picking your first dance song can be stressful and hard considering how many songs are available. The best way to make this decision is to think of yourselves as a couple and pick a song that means a lot to both of you as you listen to it. The first dance is your special moment when everyone is watching and it should be a great memory for years to come. There are a few different directions you can go while making this decision. You could pick a song about romance such as “Everything” by Michael Buble, a song that reminds you of a special moment (first meeting, a vacation or a specific event that means a lot), a classic song such as “The way you look tonight” by Tony Bennett, a more recent song such as “I’m yours” by Jason Mraz, or go for a fun song that reflects your personalities such as “Grow Old With You” by Adam Sandler.
Youtube has countless videos of first dances that could help you pick:
Dont’s
Choose a long song
Choose a song because it’s popular/trendy right now
Feel the need to pick a song that everyone else knows or likes – it is about you not them
Do not stress about it
Do’s
Consider if it is possible to dance to and it’s a song that you can listen to for the whole song
Choose a song that speaks to you
Research the lyrics – some break-up songs sound very romantic in the course
Make sure you both love it
Make sure the band can play it (if you are having a live band)
Practice dancing before hand
Practice dancing and moving in your wedding dress
Plan ahead! Don’t pick your song only a couple weeks before your wedding. Plan it at least 4 months before your wedding so you have lots of time to listen to it, plan out your dance, and make sure you truly love the song
