Picking Your Signature Drink
A signature drink is a unique or original drink that expresses the person/people creating it. It can be designed to fit a theme, or colour and represents local ingredients and the culture of those around. Set your wedding apart from others and choose to have one or two signature drinks available during your cocktail hour or reception. You will want to choose something that is fun, but is also going to appeal to your guest list and be a memory no one can forget.
Here are a couple tips on choosing your signature drink:
Make it personal –Think about selecting flavours and special touches that highlight both your personality as the bride and groom. For example, couples who love the beach can serve a cocktail that is reminiscent of a tropical island.
Keep it local & seasonal – Using seasonal and local ingredients can help integrate the wedding location and any regional features, while also keeping costs down. Look for local farmers markets to see what is in season and available near your venue and use those while deciding on your specialty drink. Your signature cocktail can be an experience on its own so there’s no need to pair the cocktails with the menu if you don’t want to.
Parting is such sweet sorrow – Receptions are usually a little crazy towards the end therefore how about creating a specialty drink for the end of the night. A coconut water spritzer with a sprig of mint will keep guests refreshed and help them recover from the evening’s festivities.
