We’re so excited to share with you another post chock full of advice from wedding pros. We’re a chatty bunch, and have a lot of great things to share! Here are some of our favourite quotes from some crazy talented vendors!
” Choose a photographer that shares your vision for the day instead of choosing the cheapest or a friend who is a photographer whom you may feel obligated to choose. If you are choosing a vintage inspired wedding, then do not choose someone whose style will not do your details justice.”
“Want a bold, vibrant bouquet? My favourite tick is to add in just a tiny touch of yellow. That little accent missed in with corals, purples, or even blue creates undeniable dynamic.”

“Have fun. Believe me, wedding planning is supposed to be a lot of fun. If it’s not, you’re not doing it right!”

Make time with your wedding party to go for drinks or do something fun and casual. Not all wedding portraits need to be a “set up” – some of the most beautiful and genuine wedding photos happen in candid and relaxed settings.

DO spend the money on professional services! Weddings can cost a lot but the cost of being disappointed because you hired “Uncle Bob” or “a family friend”… can be a whole lot more.
Professional hair & makeup can make you feel perfect. Professional planners keep your day on track and SOLVE problems. Professional florists make sure your flowers last through the day. Professional photographers make sure you get the memories you WANT to remember. Professional DJ’s keep your party going….
“When speaking about your wedding reception with your MC, encourage them to have a written plan. Help them figure out what is going to happen, when it is going to happen, who is involved in those moments and where they are going to happen. Weddings don’t always go according to the exact plan, but to have a plan is better then no plan at all!”
“Don’t stress and overwhelm yourself with what everyone else is doing and what’s super trendy (especially if you are planning two years ahead..trends fade and get worn out).. Make your wedding 100% about you as a couple – if that happens to be Breakfast for Dinner or scratch tickets for your seating chart then go for it! Your guests will appreciate the authentic details that truly reflect you and it will surely be different then the other wedding they have attended. Trends come and go, but your authenticity will always be around!”
“Debating whether you should order tall or low centrepieces? Go low. To make a major impact with a tall arrangement, you really do need a lot of flowers, which means a big budget. With a low arrangement, your florist can start with a basic arrangement and pop in a few spotlight blooms to create shape and style. A good rule of thumb for height of an arrangement: put your elbow on the table and put your hand up like you’re in an arm wrestle. The total height of the arrangement plus container should be lower than your hand — then you’ll be able to see over it without a problem!”

“Do pick a dress that both flatters you and one that you can wear all day without tugging or pulling at it. Don’t wear crazy false eyelashes that weight your eyes down. It shows in photos. Men, do bring a spare dress shirt if possible (especially it it is hot and sweaty). Girls, do bring sensible non slip dance shoes for later in the night.”
“Not to over plan anything. Let go of all your high expectations and everything will fall into place. Letting go of convention and do something that shows your love for each other. Be inspired and have elements that reflect who you are will make it more meaningful.”
“A lot of brides tell me they were nervous for their flower consults — I have no idea why! This should be a fun appointment! If you have specific concerns (budget, allergies, certain flowers you really want to include or not include), just let your florist know upfront. Don’t feel like you need to keep that a secret — it’s so much better if you can share any crucial info and will end up with you getting a better floral plan.”
