We had the pleasure of working with Winnipeg Wedding Photography Collective on one of our resent photoshoots (of our booth and model from the It’s Love Bridal Showcase). They did such a beautiful job and we just had to share them with you! Here’s part 3 of our interview with the fab four that together create the Winnipeg Wedding Photography Collective.

Describe yourself in 3 words…
SHOE-A-HOLIC, fun, loyal.
What’s the best professional lesson you ever learned?
Never apologize for having high standards. People who matter most and who really want to be part of your life journey and value you as a person will rise up to meet them.
What was the last thing that gave you warm fuzzies?
Teaching dance at our Community Centre and seeing how kids develop self confidence, and how they feel a sense of belonging. Every hug, smile, fist bump and picture I get from these students, gives me warm fuzzies every time. Oh and my fur boots give me warm fuzzies too!
Who inspires you?
I look for inspiration in everyone and everything. I try to think outside the box and look for inspiration everywhere. This way I can come up with something new and innovative every time. But if I had to pick a person… my mother.
Describe your perfect day as a photographer.
I believe each day of being a photographer gives me the opportunity to do what I love most. Therefore, even the days that the rain sets in or the light is challenging it becomes an imperfectly perfect day. Every situation is what you make of it, so a perfect day as a photographer, to me, is actually any given day.
Describe your perfect day off.
Shoe shopping! And if there is time left…. just kidding
Kicking back and relaxing on the couch overlooking the river, with my two kids next to me and just hanging out. Talking about life when you are 5 and trying to teach my 18 month old son some wisdom from his 5 year old sister. Life just gets too rushed and these little moments are PRICELESS.
Besides friends and family, what are three things you can’t live without?
-Shoes (No particular pair , just ALL of them)
-My iPhone

What are you watching, reading and listening to right now?
Watching: I am a big sports fan so Go JETS Go! I love reality shows, anything from Masterchef, Survivor, Amazing Race and last but not least THE Bachelor/Bachelorette.
Reading: I’m a magazine junkie; Real Simple, Vogue, National Geographic, Oprah & Today’s Parent.
Listening: Right now I can probably sing ‘Let it Go’ in 14 different Languages! My kids just play it over and over again. My taste in music is very versatile. Michael Jackson is at the top of my list but I would say anything from the 80’s is good to me!
In Winnipeg, where do you like to eat, get coffee, shop?
EAT- I am not too picky, as long as there is something on the menu without garlic. I hate garlic. Breakfast is a must at Cora’s, that is unless they start to feature a garlic flavoured fruit parfait. I also love Wasabi Sabi, Lobby on York, Tida Thai, Clay Oven.
COFFEE – I am a Starbucks addict (Creme Brûlée Latte).
SHOPPING- Click click click- I love shopping online, but I do also like Urban Outfitters & Marshall’s. My husband always says that one thing he has learned about our marriage, is the importance of holding hands, always, especially when out shopping, because if he let goes, I shop!
Looking back, what would you tell your 16 year old self?
Make time to experiment, learn new things and most of all remember to have fun. And you can NEVER have enough shoes!
What is your favourite getaway location? Why?
South Africa
My favourite place – Knysna
Knysna stands out on South Africa’s famed Garden Route thanks to the sandstone cliffs that dramatically separate its tranquil lagoon from the pounding surf of the Indian Ocean. It’s also home to the country’s largest indigenous forest. My love for Knysna started with a book by a very famous South African writer Dalene Matthee– “Kringe in ’n Bos”. In 1999 I had the privilege of reliving this book in every single detail while hiking through the forest. We completed an eighty kilometre trail in 6 days, and it was breathtaking. It felt like I was one of the characters in this book. It is true that the Forest has a voice if you really take the time to sit down and listen. I have never seen nor experienced nature in such a way. Much of the intrigue of this forests lies in its history, from the early Italian settlers to elephant hunters and timber harvesters. More current anomalies include the 7-year disappearance of a helicopter which was recently discovered.
South Africa is infused with vibrant culture and has the wild African bush at its back door. This is important to understanding why South Africa is such a special place. It has a rare mix of modern development, African culture, outdoor attractions, and untamed wildlife that you will find nowhere else in the world.
