Vendor Spotlight – 111 Films
We’ve had the pleasure of getting to work with Rob of 111 Films on a handful of our weddings and more are in the works!
We did an interview with Rob a few weeks ago. Here’s a little more about him and his company.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Hardworking, genuine and emotional.
What’s the best professional lesson you ever learned?
Time is priceless! When I first started as a videographer I grossly underestimated the amount of required hours I get involved into my videos of my clients. The first couple of videos I was probably making around $5/hr!
What was the last thing that gave you warm fuzzies?
Spending quality time with my son!. Watching him grow and develop into his own person is awesome to witness and be a part of. Each day he is learns something new.
Who inspires you?
From a personal level, my mom inspires me without a doubt. She is a hard worker, barely misses work and gets paid as close to minimum as possible. Now retired, she still continues to look out for my siblings and I and now her grandkids.
There are also a handful of local videographers that also inspire me. I do not see us as competitors, but rather vendors in which we are each providing clients a truly unique look and style when capturing their special day. I have been fortunate where I have been able to collaborate with them and it reminds me there is always room for growth, improvement, and passion in providing the best product to each and every client.
Describe your perfect day as a videographer.
Every client is different and unique and this is what excites me. At the start of each wedding I still get nervous and butterflies in my stomach. As a videographer I get to witness and experience the entire day of all our clients, and from the footage my team and I are able to capture, we are able to put together a 4 min highlight video retelling the impactful moments for each of our couples and tell their own wedding day story. The prefect day is when we are able to email our clients and share with them that their wedding highlight video is online for them to view and the feedback we get from them minutes later.
Describe your perfect day off.
A perfect day off would be spending time with family and quality time with my son. The toughest part of being a wedding vendor is realizing to slow down and take time on summer days when not shooting and appreciating all the small things.
Besides friends and family, what are three things you can’t live without?
Laptop, ice cream and cell phone.
What are you watching, reading and listening to right now?
I don’t have much free time but when I am not editing, I usually watch the occasional Winnipeg Jets game on TV or get caught up on Netflix with either Breaking Bad and Suits. For music I still like my top 40 pop music.
In Winnipeg, where do you like to eat, get coffee, shop?
Having worked at McDonalds for 7 years you would think I would be sick of it! It’s totally opposite for me. I still enjoy my McDonalds and my Mocha McCafe.
Looking back, what would you tell your 16 year old self?
Do what you feel passionate out about inside. Do you! If you fail, do not be scared and run away. Learn from it and constantly strive to better yourself from the last time. Family and friends will cast doubt into your goals, but do it for yourself! Also you still live at home with your parents so you can afford to make those mistakes.
What is your favourite getaway location? why?
The Big Apple – New York, New York. I love the city in general and there are so many places to visit with such a rich history. But what I like about the city is that it puts a lot of perspective in life seeing people getting caught up in the rat race and fast pace of the city. It makes me stop and appreciate the small things in life.
