Leanne & Thomas’ Rustic Country Wedding

Leanne and Thomas had a beautiful rustic country wedding.

They originally had met with us quite far out from their wedding. After a little bit of back-and-forth they decided to go ahead and book (yay!) and we got started right away is. We lost a little time in the delay but that didn’t stop us from getting things happening ASAP.

There’s a good bit that needs to get done when you first get started with your wedding planning. We call it our top five: Wedding Planner, venue and catering, videographer, photographer, and florist. Those are the top five things you need to book right away. So the top five things that tend to be booked up quite quickly. Especially in a market like ours, Winnipeg and Manitoba, where we’ve got a lot of amazing boutique vendors, and also a smaller market (in general) to pick from. So if you really have your eye on a vendor you really want to book them right away (no reason to wait or delay – if you like them book them!).

As we got planning it was very clear that purple was prevalent, and loved, colour. And the whole rustic country charm was definitely a part of the wedding. We took those two and brought together a bit more of a classic take on it bringing in some champaign tones, and different shades of purple (because really, there are so many great shades to work with).

Country weddings, and tent weddings, are our specialty. We love getting to be out in nature, bring it all together, we even love the challenge that backyard weddings and tent weddings bring.

But, no matter the challenge, there’s just nothing that compares to having a wedding outside where guests can mix and mingle, play games, go to an outdoor bar, have a bonfire; really the options are endless.

And in the end, if the weather is crappy you just have a really good (backup) plan for in the tent; have some heaters as a back up, and either way you have a great time.

The day started off with the guys and girls getting ready separately, and then heading over for the first look at Living Prairie Museum.

Their dog of course needed to be part of this, and we wouldn’t of wished it any other way. Even during the ceremony she was patiently waiting outside as things were underway.

After the ceremony Thomas had a beautiful surprise for Leanne. He had gotten an old truck restored for her. Being countryfolk this could’ve been a better gift.

White everyone headed over to Thomas’ parents property for cocktail hour the wedding party headed out for photos. Hitting up a few of their favourite country locations. Growing up in the area they knew all the best spots they wanted to go to.

Cocktail hour was spent having popcorn, drinking homemade strawberry lemonade (on tap!), and enjoying the property, games and, checking out all the goodies inside the tent.

The reception was filled with lots of laughter, fun speeches, and some delicious food.

When it came to desert Thomas’ mom and all of her friends got to work on setting up all the delicious desserts they had made.

There were a lot of DIY projects and things that the couple brought together. Some a little more last-minute than we would’ve liked, but it’s always wonderful to see it all come together.

Event Light did a wonderful job lighting up the property, and the addition of the different fires around the property really set the tone for a long evening of enjoyment.
