Ann & Kristian’s Backyard Food Truck Wedding
When Ann and I first met I just knew I was going to live everything about their wedding. She mentioned so many of the things that get me excited about weddings: backyard, in the country, tent, barn, food truck wedding. And of course the thing that makes all designers everywhere smile; “I want to make quality choices. I know it’s a backyard wedding but I want it to be a nice one”. Oh yes, I’m so 150% in!
Ann hired us 4 months from their wedding date and there was a lot to do. She had gotten a lot of great vendors on board but there was still a lot to plan and a lot of bits and pieces to put together.
With having a job that requires a lot of travel and having a toddler and and I fit in Google Hangout meetings and did a lot via email to keep things moving along and on time.
We work within our client’s schedules and lifestyle and Ann & Kristian’s wedding was the perfect example of using all of technology to our advantage to keep things on track and on course.
Ann & Kristian didn’t want their day to be over the top but everything they did want they wanted done well. They wanted guests to feel welcome, taken care of, entertained, fed (and well!), and even those that weren’t there were acknowledged and thought of.
With the wedding being out on a few acres, on a family family, signage was important. Robin Egg Blue Design really took our ideas made the most fun and theme approbate signs for all over the yard.

Doesn’t this ceremony install from Oak & Lily fit in so well? Simple with a splash of colour, and perfectly set in the green area behind the barn.
They wanted their guests to have the access to indulge whenever they liked. So this cigar and scotch bar was set as self serve. Come and get what you like, when you like.
We can’t say it enough: food trucks are the best! Can’t decide what to eat? Just have a bit of everything. Ann & Kristian wanted their guests to have options, to not be limited to the ‘usual’ wedding food and, to be treated to some amazing food truck options.
Guests were welcomed into the tent for a short program of speeches and memories and that’s it. The rest of the night was filled with good food, drink, and music. AND an ice cream truck.
Lighting was a big part of Ann & Kristian’s wedding design. Being outside in the open we knew if we didn’t plan we would be in the dark, literally. Event Light worked with us to come up with the perfect blend of light to welcome you in into the tent, barn, and into the created food truck courtyard.
Really, did you think it would be a backyard food truck wedding without fire works? Ann’s family came together and set off a great little show to celebrate the day.
A big thanks to all the vendors, family, and friends that helped bring together Ann & Kristian’s backyard food truck wedding:
