The Benefits to a Winter Wedding

Source

It’s something you may not have considered, but having a winter wedding has its benefits. It can be a fun way to do something different with your special day and make it stand out. If you haven’t set your date yet then don’t automatically rule out those cool crisp winter months. Here are a few benefits to daring to be different and celebrating with a winter wedding:

Availability of venues, photographers and other vendors

Winter weddings offer the benefit of better availability of the most popular venues and photographers, etc. Since winter is a less common time of year for weddings you stand a much better chance of scoring that dream venue you’ve had your eye on. Some venues may also offer reduced rates, so that is something that can’t hurt to look into as well.

Unique and memorable!

Since winter weddings are less common you don’t see too many wedding photos with the bride and groom standing under the glistening falling snowflakes, atop a horse drawn sleigh… but how different is that? There are many unique features to having a winter wedding; such as; dressing your bridesmaids in matching scarves, hats and mittens. Matching boots, candy cane bouquets and acorn buttoners.  Serving hot chocolate, marshmallows and all the fixings in a cozy setting. Maybe the venue has a fireplace! Are you an avid outdoorsy couple? How about a weekend at a ski and snowboarding resort?

You can also look forward to a unique colour palate that really stands out.  From deep reds, rich gold’s and dark browns – to sparkling silvers and dark or light blues (and don’t get us starting on bring gold and rose gold into the mix!).

Some fun décor options could be Snow globe centrepieces, personalized hot coco mugs, tree ornament favours for your guests to take home and hang on their tree. And don’t forget the seasonal menu options this opens up; gingerbread, cranberry drinks and desserts, eggnog, white chocolate, mint chocolate, peppermint, hot apple cider, creamy bisques of lobster, acorn squash, pumpkin soup, breadcrumb-coated mac and cheese, rich cheddar potato soup, or tasty pasta dishes like cheese filled ravioli.  (Anyone else getting hungry? We have a Signature Drinks pin board and an Event Food pin board FULL of delish options!)

Cozy & Intimate

The season automatically gives a warm, cozy, romantic feel to your special day. This can also make it easier to host everything at the same location, decreasing travel for your guests and yourselves. Just stay put, cozy in, and enjoy.

Wedding theme

If you are doing a Christmas styled theme then your venue may already have ‘built in’ décor. Many places will already be pre decorated for the holidays so this can help carry your theme throughout the entire venue and it won’t cost you a dime!
