Carrie & Jason’s Human Rights Museum Wedding
Carrie and Jason had a beautiful Human Rights Museum wedding. When we were searching for a venue everything just kept pointing us back to the Human Rights Museum. It had the right feels, ambience, and the right level of elegance.
You might not feel that with its dark tones and Tara Cotta elements it’s a blank slate but it truly is (and you might just have to trust me on it). You really can do so much in there and you really can create and transform it into whatever sort of space you want it to be.
Carrie and Jason live very very busy lives. With four kids between them and being new franchise owners they needed us to really truly take the reins on their wedding planning.
We would plan our meetings whenever we could and in between we would work diligently on design ideas, vendor quotes, and bringing the general aesthetic together through all of the different facets and areas of the wedding.
Jason is the largest floral enthusiast I have ever met. His ideas for florals blew me away (and i instinctually saw the number signs too). Of course installs and visibility within the space you choose is always something to consider (what you see on Pinterest or TVs shows can’t always be translated into your space and wedding). So we had to hone in just a touch and consider the budget as well. But I do have to say; how it all came together was beautiful. Although we could’ve gone much larger all the florals were the perfect accent to everything else; merging into just a really elegant lux event for them and their guests.
From the beginning we knew the children would be a large part of the wedding. The two oldest acted as their witnesses and wedding party and the two youngest little cuties got pulled behind in a wagon acting as the ring bearers.
The ceremony took place in the Gardens of Contemplation with a little bit of bubbly and classical quartet music for a post-ceremony cocktail hour. After that guests were welcome to take the ramp through the museum down to the reception.
They were welcomed by more live music, open bar, and a beautiful set room perfectly lit just for them.
The sweets table was something to behold. We set it in the back of the museum (in one of the many prep corridors and loading areas). It took three of us to wheel it out and put it in place but it was a splendid “wow” moment when guests saw it for the first time.
Speeches and dinner courses intermixed throughout the evening. Guess were welcome to enjoy wine and reflect on memories of a couple.
As the night progressed I could tell Carrie was itching to dance. After cake cutting we rolled right into it, she didn’t want to delay a moment longer. She wanted to get up on the dance floor and I don’t blame her! She has a lot of great friends that know how to groove.
