LeighAnn & Paul’s Garden Wedding
You might hear me say this a lot “This couple was just the loveliest” but it is just so true! We love our couples. We love getting to work with them, dream with them, and help them piece it all together into this beautiful, memorable day that is all theirs.
LeighAnn & Paul were so fun to work with. Their little man came to some of the meetings too. He’s seriously one of the coolest kids and I did warn them a few times “If he’s missing, it’s cause I took him home, so don’t be alarmed”.
The wedding day was so beautiful but intensely hot. That heat soon turned into a crazy rain storm but the wedding party and guests took it in stride and just had fun the whole way through. You could truly tell none of that matter and they just simply were going to enjoy the day, no matter what. And the clear top tent made for a pretty great vantage point to watch the skies pour and the lightning blaze.
It’s not very often we get a little something from the groom so we’re extra excited to share what he wrote about their wedding day:
“Trying to think of our “favourite” parts of our wedding was truly a difficult task. So many parts of the experience were personal for us; LeighAnn’s brother officiated the ceremony, our son (Huxley), Nieces (Kaya & Isla) and nephew (Meeko) accompanied us down the aisle and Paul’s brother Marc was the Master of Ceremonies.
Being able to share the day with so many of our friends and family was huge. After 7 years of being together, one child and few moving days, I’m sure many of our guests thought this day would never happen. We’ve always been lucky to have great friends and family that we can count on, which is represented in our 16 person wedding party. And of course having Huxley be old enough to understand the implications of the day made it even more amazing.
Having a wedding outside the city made it impossible to control some of the planning, but thanks to Amanda, we were able to enjoy our day with friends and family without the worries of all the happenings behind the scenes. She really went above and beyond, even walking the kids to the bathroom in the rain.
Seeing LeighAnn’s ideas come to life through the decor was also something that stands out. She handled a lot herself, spending many nights over the last 12 months in her “craft room” making centre pieces, programs and even wooden crates. She also worked closely with Lauren form Stone House Creative on the floral arrangements, flower crowns and bouquets. Although wanting to have input, she left the creative side to Lauren who did not disappoint. Seeing the arrangements, most notably the arbor hanging directly above us while we said our vows was really beyond what our imaginations had imagined.
Despite the sweltering heat, the intense humidity and the mini storm, Rosie and Mark made it look like we were modelling for a wedding magazine instead of trying to stay dry. We had done shoots with them before however the moments they captured for us we will cherish forever. Their professionalism and willingness to work around an overheated, tired and sometimes cranky three year old was truly remarkable.
Lastly, the atmosphere in the beautiful venue was probably the thing we will remember most. From the moment we made our “grand entrance”, after walking through the rain, the crowd was raucous and you could feel the energy build through the dinner, gain momentum through the toasts and culminate on the dance floor. Like every great wedding should.”
