Summer Whitetail Meadows Wedding

Leah & Steve had the most personal and lovely Whitetail Meadows wedding. It was hot, and I mean hot, on their wedding day but that didn’t really slow anything down. We all know Manitoba is so cold most of the time. We take the heat with grace and just embrace it. It’s only here so long right?

The day started with lots of prep, as it usually does. Whitetail Meadows has a charming little cottage you can rent out and as you can see below it’s perfect for getting ready in.

There is always time for some bubbly. Always.

We highly suggest you get your partner a gift. It doesn’t have to be something large or expensive. Get them something personal they’ll want to hold on to for a very long time. Also, a letter. Writing your vows can be hard, keeping them short can be hard too. You can use this letter as a space to include some of the edited out parts, more promises you want to make, and what you’re excited for in your future life together.

Leah & Steve took some time (with their photographer and videographers) to walk through the meadow. It’s so lovely and open back there. Perfect for some romance and kissing. Lots of kissing.

Having a dress with a removable layer – like Leah’s – is amazing. It can be hard to narrow down which dress or style to pick in the first place so why not something that gives you the best of both worlds? I mean, come on, just look at it? Leah, you’re gorgeous.

The moment Steve reminisces on how out of his league Leah was and still is.

I had the honour of marrying these two. It was so sweet getting to build their ceremony and all the personal elements into the service with them.

Their cocktail hour was a mix of inside and outside (to get a break from the heat) and as guests entered the barn they were welcomed with tables set and each spot personally ready for them. Candles lit, cookie party favours waiting for them, and their spot saved with a calligraphy place card.

Having the grand entrance from the mezzanine is a little tricky logistically but well worth it. Each pair from the wedding party entered with their own dance and flair and of course, Leah & Steved topped them all.

Having your cake on display and moving it to the best viewing (and photographic) spot for the cake cutting is ideal if you can. If you have a small cake even better.

Leah & Steve’s cake started at the front foyer, for viewing and photos as guests came in, and when it was time we moved it over to the dance floor with the stairs and greenery framed beautifully in the background.

If you can surprise your partner in any blissful way on the wedding day we highly suggest it. There’s no need to learn a totally new skill or talent – that’s a lot of pressure – but why not something you can simply refine and you know they’ll love.

Leah worked behind the scenes with one of their good friends to prepare a song for Steve to share during the speeches at the reception.
