Ultra Violet Wedding Inspiration
If you didn’t know Pantone released a colour each year as the official “colour of the year”. Many industries follow this and you’ll see it through home decor, fashion, and eventually in the wedding industry.
You might be thinking “Really, ANOTHER, purple Pantone colour of the year?!” Yes, another one. BUT there are just so many amazing shades of purple (our fav is mauve) and so there’s a lot you can do with it, and you can have fun and try some different things if you want to follow the colour trends.
We wanted to tell you all about Ultra Violet – the colour of 2018 – and share with you some Ultra Violet wedding inspiration and how the colour can be used.
Pantone has picked the colour of the year and we believe it it is the perfect image of a star filled night sky in the heavens. Ultra violet is the colour that reminds us of an explorable galaxy that is constantly waiting for the next adventurer. We think that this he colour of the star filled sky comes across as being magical and enticing.
What is Ultra Violet?
“A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.
Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.” – Pantone
Ultra Violet is one of countless amazing shades and can be used in so many different contexts and ways. Whether we are using it in a floral bouquet to make it pop or using it as a full tablecloth at the reception – we love it. Ultra Violet can be used in large amount or used a little bit to get that desired accent colour.
If you’re not into any kind of purple, you may have this colour all wrong. It’s a magical colour reminding us of unexplored galaxies. It’s “provocative” and goes great with those mysterious nights.

This cake is great way to use Ultra Violet as an accent. The use of the colour on this cake is simple, bright, but we love how elegant it looks. You may love ultra violet but don’t want it to take over your wedding. Use it like this – just as a accent – a touch of it – and in a unique and funky way.
If you’re interested in having all the same colour bridesmaid dress, Ultra Violet goes lovely as a full coloured dress or a pattern. This colour would also be great for a solid colour tie of the groomsmen.
Maybe you’re interested in a floral bouquet that has a more green plants than flowers. We love the way this bouquet use the ultra violet flowers to create a pop in the bouquet but keep it very green and lush at the same time.
Look at the colour of these shoes! We think that another great way to use ultra violet as a accent colour are the shoes you’re wearing. It’s a fun contract and great way to bring in another pop of the colour.
We think this table is stunning! The use of the ultra violet as the table cloth and using gold as an accent colour – we adore this idea!
