Tell us a little bit about you!
Everyone knows the Academy Florist name, but not everyone knows that we have been a family-owned business for over 30 years. We have 3 shops, and actually just re-located our main store/office into a brand new storefront at 925 Corydon, which is where we meet with all of our brides and taking care of weddings. We have a very talented wedding team and each of us has our own style, which means that we take on a lot of different types of weddings. Being a retail florist shop, we also get the opportunity to stretch ourselves creatively every day, working on different types and styles of arrangements, so that when we get to our wedding work, we can pull from our various experiences which means that our brides get lots of different ideas!
What inspires you?
Each of us finds inspiration in a lot of different places – spending time in the outdoors, following top florists in Europe and throughout North America, keeping up with wedding magazines and blogs, and of course, our brides. Our awesome couples keep coming to us with amazing ideas and we love seeing it all come to life. We love putting our personal twist on different trends – such as the gold succulents you’ll see in one photo here, bringing in natural elements like birch bark or rustic fillers, and using gorgeous ribbons and accents to personalize a bride’s bouquet.
What do you love the most about your job?
The days we get to put together wedding flowers! Working with the bride throughout the planning process is so much fun, and actually designing wedding bouquets, setting up the decor arrangements, delivering flowers to a bride’s home—it’s all a lot of fun.

Of our team that focuses on weddings, 3 have us have been married in the past 3 years, so we know exactly what brides are going through and we want to help our brides as much as we possibly can.
