We’ve been lucky enough to work with Alex a handful of times and we thought it was about time to do a little interview with him. If you’re still looking for a wedding photographer, corporate, or someone great to do your family photos Alex might be the perfect fit for you.
Below is your interview with Alex of Palma Photography.
Describe yourself in 3 words…
Optimistic, loyal and, goofy.
What’s the best professional lesson you ever learned?
Probably to stop trying to be like someone else and have enough confidence in myself to be or try something different.
What was the last thing that gave you warm fuzzies?
That is an easy one, spending time with family!
Who inspires you?
I have always been inspired by people who have overcome barriers whether they are physical, emotional, or environmental. Some of the many are Nick Vujicic and Jessica Cox. Elon Musk is someone that I find very interesting at the moment as his SpaceX company is making headlines.
Describe your perfect day as a wedding photographer?
Having a clear organized wedding day timeline, having a good positive rapport with the bride and groom as well as the rest of the bridal party. Rockin’ the photoshoot knowing your captured the true connection of the people you are working with and partying it up with your new friends at the reception!
Describe your perfect day off.
It would probably be, going outside the city to spend the day at the beach. If we can’t do that then staying in and watching Netflix!
Besides friends and family, what are three things you can’t live without?
My dog Sofie, nice bowl of homemade chicken soup and the Toronto Blue Jays (huge fan!)
What are you watching, reading and, listening to right now?
I am currently watching Gotham and Suits, also waiting for the last season of Game of Thrones.
I’ve been known to have a healthy collection of comic books in particular one called ‘Condorito’ Look it up haha.
I like to listen to quite a bit of Spanish music from Reggaeton, Cumbia, to a good Salsa tune always hits the spot.
In Winnipeg, where do you like to eat, get coffee, shop?
Shopping at stores is not one of my favourite things to do but I do like to eat, in particular, I do recommend Little Bones Wings in the heart of Transcona – so many flavours to choose from.
Looking back, what would you tell your 16 year old self?
To have confidence in yourself and be true to what you believe in. Find your passion and run with it!
What is your favourite getaway location? Why?
The last few summers we haven’t travelled very far but Victoria Beach is a spot we have come to love. I have been lucky enough to shoot a destination wedding in Jamaica recently which I wouldn’t mind going back to.
