We’ve been lucky enough to work with and get to know Charles  (Aka DJ Sir Charles) and not only is he a great DJ, he’s also just a great guy!

Here’s our interview for our Vendor Spotlight series.

Describe yourself in 3 words…

Introverted, easygoing, and passionate.

What’s the best professional lesson you ever learned?

To take it slow. Starting off, my mind was continuously racing with wanting to take the plunge, quit my job and operate my business full time. With other needs and priorities in life though, it’s not feasible.

Hearing this advice from a very successful person who’s been doing it longer than I have calmed me down and let me focus on what I need to do in the present.

What was the last thing that gave you warm fuzzies?

Snuggling with my lady.

Who inspires you?

My sister, she’s one of the strongest people I know.
Also, the countless wedding vendors/entrepreneurs I’ve met in my journey. Their passion really shows with the quality in their work.

Describe your perfect day as a DJ.

I’m prepared and well rested.
I have a good connection with my couple.
I’ve created good rapport with the guests.
Song choices are on point with the moods of the evening.
Dance portion of the night is bumping, with people singing loud and dancing.
I see lots of smiles and a tired bunch at the end of the night.

Describe your perfect day off.

Just having good meals, some exercise and spending it with the people I love.
Besides friends and family, what are three things you can’t live without?
Music, books (more audiobooks nowadays) and basketball.

What are you watching, reading and listening to right now?

Watching – The Walking Dead and it’s hard to deny sports playoffs right now.
Reading – 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman
Listening – Fav. songs right now are Not Going Home by DVBBS (feat. Gia Koka) and That’s what I like by Bruno Mars

In Winnipeg, where do you like to eat, get coffee, shop?

Stella’s – great food and maybe the best coffee
TH Dang – for Pho
Long and McQuade for DJ stuff, R & W co. for clothes

Looking back, what would you tell your 16 year old self?

Excuses are only holding you back.

What is your favourite getaway location? Why?

Really, anywhere with my g/f but if I had to choose one place, it would be Peru. There’s so much contrast in the geography, the culture and history are so interesting, the people are kind, delicious food and so many good sites to see.

Thanks Charles for the interview and amazing work you do with us and our clients.
