We’re excited to share with you another vendor spotlight post and this time on Robin Egg Blue Design. We’ve had so much fun working with them on photo shoots and on our couples’ stationary suites! Here is our interview, and a little bit more about these talented designers.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your company!
We are a boutique design and paper studio specializing in wedding stationery and paper details. With a focus on quality craftsmanship, we employ a range of printing techniques and fine papers–with some of our more recent endeavours including wood and textiles. We love typography, hand-lettering, and quirky illustrations in novel colour palettes. We take inspiration from stories and relish in the tiny details that serve up a show-stopping result.
What inspires you in your work and designs?
Our focus and inspirations always start with the couple we are working with, and the relationships we develop as we go through the process are not only rewarding, but enable us to serve up a result that reflects the couple getting married and set the tone for their wedding day. Almost all clients that have worked with us, have come back for more. It speaks volumes, and really lets us know that the effort we put in and the passion we have for the relationship side of business, really counts.
In addition to our wedding stationery, we also dabble in custom design work–creating logo and brand identities for clients in a wide range of industries and professions. Our stationery carries through to all-occasions as well, with retailers including Trader Joes and Mad About Style Boutique (a Winnipeg treasure). Our passion for good design that both delights and informs, is what makes our world go ‘round and we feel incredibly lucky to be able to do the work that we do.
What inspired you to start your company?
I left my career in Communications after the birth of my son, Henry. Starting as a passionate hobby, stationery and custom design work grew by leaps and bounds as word got out about Robin Egg Blue Design. By the time H was toddling around the house, the studio was fully a-buzz and beckoning for more and more attention. Seeing the potential to run a full-time business in the realm of my true passion and natural talent–while spending more time at home during the early years of my son growing up–I decided to give it a full go. And I have never looked back. The passion for my work, the rewarding feedback from happy clients, and relationships developed with fellow wedding vendors, are second to none. I am truly blessed. And of course I have an AMAZING husband who is both supportive and engaged in what I do, and that makes all the difference in the world.
All of our stationery is hand-illustrated. We use a wide range of materials from inks and oils to watercolours and gouache. There’s nothing better than putting on a classic album, cranking the tunes, and spending the day illustrating. Like I said – I am truly blessed! We also fancy well-crafted typography and love to mix classic typefaces with the eclectic–and throw in bits of hand-lettering for the added touch of personality. Whatever your vision is, the bottom line is that we will work with you to ensure a stellar result. We love what we do and hope that it shines through.
